Graduating Senior Solo Requirements
CDA proudly offers our graduating Senior dancers the option to perform a Senior Solo at one of our end of season performances.
Senior solo’s are not handed out to every graduating Senior.
Dancers must be eligible based on the requirements below and approved for a solo by Miss Niki.
Performing a solo is an opportunity given by cda, not a requirement of cda.
Please review the criteria below to see if your dancer is eligible.
Eligible dancers will need to email their intention to office@cummingdanceacademy.com by March 1st.
Senior Solo Eligibility Requirements:
1. Dancer must be registered in a minimum of the basic three technique classes (Ballet, Tap and Jazz) for the entire 24-25 dance season. There are no class substitutions allowed.
2. Dancer must be a student of CDA for at least the past 2 consecutive seasons (2023-2025)
3. Members of CDA’s Competitive Teams (Company/Swerve) are eligible to perform a Senior Solo if they meet the class requirements above and/or have been a member of the competition team for 2 consecutive seasons (2023-2025)
4. Dancer must be in compliance with CDA’s attendance/absence policy. No more than 3 unexcused absences in any technique class.
5. Choreography is to be created by the student only with no professional help from outside sources.
6. Student choice of dance style and music selection must be emailed to office@cummingdanceacademy.com no later than March 10th for approval. Miss Niki will give final approval on all selections.
7. Routine can be a maximum of 1:30 long. No exceptions.
8. Student is responsible for all editing of music selection. Lyrics must be appropriate for a family audience.
9. Final music edits will be due no later than April 1st to office@cummingdanceacademy.com.
10. Solo choreography will be need to be reviewed by a CDA instructor prior to performance week. Choreography may be asked to be revised if not approved by a CDA instructor.
11. Costumes may be rented from CDA’s inventory for a $45.00 fee. Dancers may also provide their own costume. All costumes must be approved by Miss Niki no later than May 1st.
12. The show schedule will be released on April 1st. Senior solos are randomly assigned to show times.
13. Miss Niki or an Instructor reserves the right to refuse a student’s ability to perform a Sr. Solo at any time, for any reason. Performing a solo is an opportunity, not a requirement.
