Dawn Hudson, Company Choreographer

Dawn Hudson has over 30 years of dance experience in tap, ballet, pointe, contemporary, musical theater and ballroom dancing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Georgia and a minor in Drama. Dawn was the founder and director of Freedom of Movement Dance Academy and Competition Team from Athens, Georgia.  While growing up, Dawn trained with The Susan Chambers Dance Company and Atlanta Dance Unlimited. She was fortunate enough to spend most of her life competing in the competition dance circuit. Dawn was also a 5 year member of the professional CORE Dance Company and the 1998 southeastern Ballroom Dance champion.

      After college Dawn founded the Freedom of Movement Dance Academy and was the proud owner for 10 years. She also spent 3 years as the adjunct jazz dance professor for the University of Georgia Dance Department.  Dawn has had the honor of being selected as “best choreographer” for various dance competitions. Her dancers have been awarded the honor of “technical excellence “ two years in a row for Nextstar dance Competition. Several of her dancers have gone into professional careers in dance.

     The past 5 years Dawn has been the Cumming Dance Academy company choreographer. She absolutely loves her dancers at CDA. Dawns most recent credits include musicals, dramas, ballets and choreography for regional, national and international events. In her spare time Dawn enjoys being a mom to her 4 children, acting, mountain biking, traveling and running marathons.  Dawn is so thrilled to be working at CDA with all of the amazing and talented dancers.
