Meet Miss Amber!
Amber Colmey, Flare Company Director, Dance Instructor
Amberlee Colmey comes from a long line of dancers. She grew up dancing at her mothers studio, CVS School of dance in upstate New York, which was founded by her grandmother. She also began her teaching career there at the age of 15. She was accepted to Broadway Dance Center’s prestigious intern program in the fall of 2004, moved to New York City and has continued training in the city since. Amberlee has performed in many Broadway Dance Center Showcases, has also danced in various shows, different contemporary dance projects, as well as Break out in Song (a notorious flash mob featuring Katie Thompson) and commercial work. She has also has had the privledge of traveling the country assisting master contemporary classes with Andrew Turtle. Not only is Amberlee a talented dancer, she is also a gifted teacher; on faculty at several studios around New York as well as having taught for Broadway Dance Center master faculty members Michelle Barber, Pam Chancey and Sheila Barker, and traveling the country teaching master classes of her own. Amberlee’s choreography has been given top awards at many national dance competitions where her students’ performances consistently receive praise from judges. She works with dancers of every age and level and is known for inspiring her students to help express themselves through their movement and embracing the uniquness in each individual talent. Amber hopes and strives to make sure each student, no matter the age level, leaves every class with a smile on their face and a love of the art of dance.
